The Sheikh Mohammed Centre of Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) in Dubai, which was established in 1998, strives to remove barriers between people of different nationalities and to raise awareness of Emirati culture and traditions.  Their motto “Open Doors.  Open Minds.” sums up their philosophy perfectly.

To encourage our Foundations students to connect with their Emirati heritage while still embracing the positives of living in a multi-cultural society, a class from Dubai Men’s College visited the SMCCU’s centre  where they participated in a cultural breakfast.  This involved enjoying some delicious local food while chatting with people of other nationalities about Emirati culture.  The students were wonderful ambassadors and even learned a thing or two about some of the history behind their own culture.  Foundations students from the men’s campus will continue to visit the SMCCU centre and the hope is that the relationship between SMCCU and HCT-Dubai will continue to grow.
