Share Short Links Using bit.ly
Sebah Al-AliSharing links with our student can be a hassle. While we have BlackBoard or emails to share weblinks with our students, we do need sometimes to share links on the spot. It can take for ever to get each and every student type the correct link, in the address bar.
Bit.ly
One way to fix this is to use Bit.ly. It’s one of many services that shortens links for you and makes it easier to type them into the address bar. So, for example, rather than giving my students this long link one of ADMC’s amazing writing resources:
http://www.admc.hct.ac.ae/hd1/english/graphs/pie_intro.htm
I can use that service to generate a shorter link: http://bit.ly/1GCojeW
If you think it still is difficult, you can sign up and customize these short links: http://bit.ly/piechart01
The website also allows you to view statistics on how many clicks/visits the link has generated: http://bit.ly/piechart01+
