Foundations take a leading role in Olympic Day
Glenys KettlewellDubai Men’s College held its annual Olympic Day on Thursday, March 19. The day marks competition in 18 events across all departments: Applied Media, Aviation, Business, Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Foundations and CIS. With the emphasis on participation and sportsmanship, many students took part in all events.
The day began with a 3.2 kilometer run and ended with the popular football final; a victory by the Business team over Civil Engineering. However, for the third consecutive year, Foundations won the overall team competition. This was a particularly rewarding achievement as this year, due to the introduction of compulsory military service, the Foundations cohort group was significantly smaller than usual. Nevertheless, with encouragement from the teachers, more than 50 Foundation students worked together with commendable team spirit and collected enough points for a resounding victory.
Organized by the Fitness Center team, it was a great way to get out of the classroom for a day and enjoy the sports and games.
