Foundations PD Day

May 3, 2016

quote

On April 6th, all Foundations Faculty took part in a day of Professional Development at Dubai Men’s College. The morning was given over to break out sessions, with topics ranging from iTunes U, building your own website and the flipped classroom to special needs students, Math and English integration and reflective learning, among many others.

PD3Morning Sessions

There were in fact 41 sessions in the morning alone, of which a massive 28 were actually delivered by Foundations Faculty. This is a great achievement, and shows the depth of professional knowledge and willingness to share that help to make Foundations such a great department.

Overall feedback was very positive, with an 83% level of overall satisfaction. Three sessions managed over 90%, while the majority scored between 80% and 90%. These numbers are very encouraging and show that the sessions are, for the most part, giving us what we need and want.

Afternoon Sessions

The afternoon sessions saw Faculty from all levels mixed into larger groups to discuss the coming Cycle 5. All facilitators commented on the fact that there was great involvement and energy from all those in attendance. Some great ideas were generated about how to approach what is for many students their last chance for success in Foundations.

Faculty Feedback

I think there will be some pleasant surprises when you see some of these ideas put into practice come May 22nd and the start of the final cycle of the new FIP!
