AAWC Foundations Students Attend Classical Music Workshop

A small group of Foundations students from Al Ain Women’s College recently attended a classical music workshop given by four members of the world-famous Staatskapelle Dresden Symphony Orchestra from Germany. The workshop, organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, was held at Al Ain International School and was attended by students from various schools and colleges in Al Ain. During the workshop, the musicians played string quartets by Mozart, Haydn and Dvorak and there was also an opportunity to ask the players questions about their careers in music. The AAWC students enjoyed listening to the superb music and appreciated the chance to talk to the artists and hear first-hand about their work. They also said that they would definitely welcome more workshops of this kind in the future. Many thanks to Ms Noura Sulaiman Al Mazrouei and Ms Gulmira Abdukhalikova of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority for organizing this workshop; and especially to the Staatskapelle Dresden musicians for taking the time out of their busy schedule to come and play for us – a wonderful artistic and educational experience all round!
