ADMC Activity Day
Denise OzdenizADMC celebrated working together in an activity day, mid-November. The change to normal class based studies encouraged a team spirit and gave students some downtime amidst their busy academic schedules. Students were given the choice of representing their class in a football tournament or in an indoor games room. Some students opted to be spectators and cheer on their teams. Before the activity day commenced, teachers encouraged a competitive atmosphere amongst their students by showing photos of the prizes to be won and creating classroom slogans such as “Let’s show them that CAM magic!” and ” CAM mega men!”
On the day, the football games were played in round robin knock out style, with each team competing against all others, and the winners of round 1 playing each other etc. In cases where there were not enough students from one class to make up a team, friends from other classes switched strips and stepped in to help. As two matches were being played simultaneously, there was always plenty of action to keep involvement high. The winners of the football tournament received a medal, an official U.A.E supporter’s shirt and a football. The team captain received a cup on behalf of the team. The runners up received a medal and shirt.
In the games room, students could represent their class in as many of the following activities as they wished to: table tennis, table football, air hockey, billiards, chess backgammon and carrom. The winner of each game gained three points for their team, draws were awarded one point each and the losing player received a zero. The activities lasted for about one and a half hours and there was a great atmosphere in the room. The winning team kept changing and was ahead by only one point which kept tensions productively high! The winning class received a cup and a big box of chocolates for their efforts. The day was enjoyed by all!
