DMC’s Practical Approach to Program Choice

DMC’s Practical Approach to Program Choice

November 20, 2014

This week Dubai Men’s College took a ‘learning by doing’ approach to their Program Choice Day. Rather than simply listening to speeches about their Bachelor options, the level 4 foundation students were given a more hands on approach. The Engineering Centre of Excellence was transformed into a “Program Expo”, where all of the main academic options were represented. Each department set up booths showing projects, equipment, booklets and posters that the students could try out or handle. The booths were manned by faculty and current students who could answer many enquiries about studying and courses.  Also on hand were graduates and working students who offered advice about employment opportunities in each field.

The aim of the day was to give Foundation level 4 students an opportunity to learn more about each program offered at DMC in order to make an informed decisionn about their Bachelor courses. Over 150 Foundation students visited the Open Day. They enjoyed the chance to visit to all the booths, try out specialist equipment and get a clearer picture of what suits them. Initial feedback was very positive and students felt that they were able to get a better insight into what the college has to offer.
